Bits of Being

thoughts on life, faith, family….and, yes, just learning to "be"

Thursday’s Thankfulness

= 1688

Lofty lithe sunflowers, looking like they’re about to topple, hanging on to that upright position to soak in the sun and show the world a bright happy face

The first yellow leaf, fallen and surrendered, giving up or starting a trend, showing bravery either way

Relief from the heat….sweaty walks of discomfort being replaced by nippy walks of refreshment

All things fall….leafy panoramas on facebook, coffee-cup and sweater pictures on instagram, pumpkin-flavored everything, cornstalks and scarecrows and jack-o-lanterns, seeing your breath hover in the air

I awoke today and found the frost perched on the town
It hovered in a frozen sky, then it gobbled summer down
When the sun turns traitor cold
and all trees are shivering in a naked row
I get the urge for going but I never seem to go
I get the urge for going
When the meadow grass is turning brown

(Joni Mitchell)
