Today I’ll mourn with those who mourn.

I’ll grieve with those who grieve.

I’ll cry out with those who cry out.

 

For weapons that destroy to be replaced by a carpenter’s tools.

For policies against to be replaced by policies for.

For religions of walls to be replaced by religions of open gates.

 

That neighborhood fences would fade into neighborhood barbecues.

That hate would fade into handshakes.

That fear would fade into knowledge.

 

May tolerance become a goal to reach for and not an attitude to reject.

May the worth of each person grow inside from a spark to a flame.

May those who can still pray, pray.

May love win.
