Bits of Being

thoughts on life, faith, family….and, yes, just learning to "be"

A Parents’ Wedding Prayer

= 2986

Father,
We come before You today, thanking you for bringing this couple together. Fill them with the excitement of a new life together, new discoveries, and new creations. May their life together be an adventure, with You at the center.

Father, we ask today that you would make their home and marriage a haven of Your peace and love. When they encounter anger, may they meet it with love. When they encounter hurts, may they meet them with forgiveness. When they encounter doubt, may it be met with faith. When they encounter despair, may they meet it with hope. May they always bring Your light into dark situations.

We pray today, Father, that your priorities would be their priorities. May they bring comfort, rather than seek it. May they bring understanding, rather than fretting about not being understood. May they serve, rather than striving to make a name for themselves. May they care, rather than worry. May they give more than they are concerned about getting. May they listen more than they speak.

Father, give them life, health, and energy to work hard. May they find joy in the process of work, more than the outcome. Help them to embrace struggles, not running away from them, but learning and overcoming and growing through them.

Every day, Father, may they fall more in love with You and with each other. May they know deep in their hearts that they are totally loved by You, so that this love may overflow out of their hearts into each other’s and into the lives of everyone they meet.

And help them to remember that grace will always be there to meet them, for You will always be there. IMG_1164
And You are Grace. Amen.
