Quotes on Walking

= 3322

So, the weather cooled down today. Finally. And though it’s rather rainy, thoughts of getting outside into the autumn air with clear blue sky above me, myriad of colors around me, and slippery leaves below me, are already pushing me to open the windows and get out the sweaters and start stepping towards the door. It’s walking season. So with that in mind, I share with you some favorite quotes and photographs on walking and paths and autumn.

“Everything is laid out for you,

Your path is straight ahead of you.

Sometimes it’s invisible but it’s there,

You may not know where it’s going,

But you have to follow that path.

It’s the path to the Creator.

It’s the only path there is.”

(Chief Leon Shenandoah)

“In your quest for peace within, you follow several paths. Over a period of time, the path which is meant for you shows up just like the opening up of petals of a bud. Tread on it and make the world more beautiful!
(Neelam Saxena Chandra)

“Walking inspires and promotes conversation that is grounded in the body, and so it gives the soul a place where it can thrive.  I think I could write an interesting memoir of significant walks I have taken with others, in which intimacy was not only experienced but set fondly into the landscape of memory.  When I was a child, I used to walk with my Uncle Tom on his farm, across fields and up and down hills.  We talked of many things, some informative and some completely outrageous, and quite a few very tall stories emerged on those bucolic walks.  Whatever the content of the talking, those conversations remain important memories for me of my attachment to my family, to a remarkable personality, and to nature.”
(Thomas Moore)

Anticipating Autumn

Exchanging the heat and humidity

With frost and freshness;

Swapping sluggishness

With new vigor;

Changing the green

To varying shades of intense color;

Being reminded of the passing of life

That brings a restored creation.
