What a treasure! Each page of this book is filled with a wealth of creativity and truth that captivates the soul. Each chapter is rich with artwork, meditations, and guided spiritual practices to help one contemplate the Cosmic Christ.

If you haven’t heard the term Cosmic Christ before, it was a term used by Pierre Teilhard de Chardin to explain the Christ who always was, was seen in Jesus, and always will be. Christ is the image of God permeating the universe, pervading all things. As it says in Colossians 1: 15-17, 19-20 (NRSV), “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; for in him all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible…He himself is before all things, and in him all things hold together…For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him God was please to reconcile to himself all things.” The Cosmic Christ is God’s love pouring into the world.

This pure, unrestricted, wholehearted love of God is what this book wants to lead its readers to encounter. It is playing off the traditional Stations of the Cross, which many liturgical churches focus on leading up to Easter as they walk through Jesus’ final days on earth, and broadening these stations to include more of the life and teachings of Jesus. This book is attempting to bring these teachings of Jesus more fully into today’s culture and spiritual practices.

As I mediated on the words and art contained within this book, my understanding of Christ was challenged and expanded and enriched. I realized more fully how often we limit God, not quite grasping the Creator’s expansiveness and enormity. God is working throughout the world (and the universe) in so many more ways and places and people than I can fathom, and this book opened my eyes to that. I’m looking forward to many more hours of sitting with this book, engrossed in the meaning of life, the meaning of God, and the reality of God, and how I can more readily bring God’s Spirit into my daily walk. My prayer is that knowing Christ better will help me to practice more of Christ’s ways in my moment-by-moment journey.
