There is in God (some say), a deep, but dazzling darkness.[1]
Enter this darkness,
a darkness so bright you cannot see;
a darkness that takes your breath away,
swirling with colors and ribbons of light.
I said to my soul, be still,
and let the dark come upon you
which shall be the darkness of God.[2]
Come into the shadow of God and feel,
feel the warmth and the welcome.
Come into the cloud of unknowing[3]
and be known.
Don’t avoid your gloaming,
sink into it;
for there, you will find,
find the One.
Not knowing is permissible.
Darkness is desired.
It’s allowed.
Rest within the cloud.
Clouds and deep darkness encircle Him.[4]
And Moses approached the thick cloud where God was.[5]
God’s in the cloud.
Go ahead.
Approach it.
In the stillness,
in the dark,
in the emptiness,
is where you will find,
find the One.
